WCSTA will hold a Driver Training Session on Sunday, Dec 9 for those who would like to obtain a snowmobile operators license.

A snowmobile operators license can be obtained for those over 12 years of age who do not have a valid Ontario drivers license. Those people 16 years and older, will be asked to submit a form to verify no Drivers license has already been issued to them.

It will be held at the Kinburn Community Center, starting a 9 am, and running until 4 pm

The course is 6 hours in length, going over snowmobiling safety, followed by a test. Proof of age, for example, by birth certificate, baptismal certificate, passport is needed, along with a parents signature of consent for their child’s attendance.

Registration forms will be filled out on day of course. If a parent cannot sign consent on that day, please contact Driver Training  Instructor to arrange filling out registration beforehand.

There is a fee for the course that is set by the province, at $40.00, payable in cash or cheque made out to W.C.S.T.A.I 

Our club will provide pizza lunch for students attending.

Class size is limited to 25 students.

Once this information is received you will receive a confirmation email within a day or two to verify that your application has been received. Please note that proof of age and parent signature will still be required when you arrive at the driver training.

    Driver Training Course – Dec. 2nd

    WCSTA will hold a Driver Training Session on Saturday Dec 2nd, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kinburn Community Centre for those who would like to obtain a snowmobile operators license. Please plan to arrive early as we need to verify proof of age, and obtain the permission signature from the parent/legal guardian.

    A snowmobile operators license is required to ride the trails in Ontario if you do not possess a valid drivers license. To be eligible, students must be 12 years old on or before the course date. A test will be given at the end of the course, and successful applicants can receive their Ontario Motorized Snowmobile Vehicle Operators licence. Any student under 16 must have signed parental consent.

    Proof of age is required (example, passport or birth certificate must be shown). Students over the age of 16, if seeking a Ontario Motorized Snowmobile Vehicle Operators licence, will submit a Driver Status Check with the MTO to show the student is “Unlicensed”. Those with valid drivers licences may also take the course, and receive an “Adult Card” confirming successful completion of the course.

    Course cost is $40.00. Pizza lunch will be served.

      Our club will hold a Driver Training Session on Saturday Dec 12 for those who would like to obtain a snowmobile operators license. A snowmobile operators license can be obtained for those over 12 years of age who do not have a valid Ontario drivers license. Anyone 16 years of age and older who would like to participate and apply for the motorized snow vehicle operator’s license will be asked to submit a form to verify that no driver’s license has already been issued to them.

      The course will be held at the Kinburn Community Center, starting a 9 am. It is 6 hours in length, going over snowmobiling safety, followed by a test. Estimated time of completion will be around 4 or 4:30 pm. Proof of age is required in the form of birth certificate, passport or baptismal certificate, for example, along with a parent’s signature.

      There is a fee for the course that is set by the province, at $40.00. Register soon, as spaces are filling up very quickly!

      Driver Training – Nov. 22

      Young Drivers

      The West Carleton driver training course is now full. For other club locations where driver training is scheduled, please visit ofsc.on.ca/get-started/driver-training.

      WCSTA will be holding a driver training course on November 22, 2014 at the Kinburn Community Centre.

      Ontario Law requires any person 16 years and over to hold a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence or a Motorized Snow Vehicle Operator’s Licence to operate a snowmobile on OFSC snowmobile trails. Persons 12 to 15 years old require a Motorized Snow Vehicle Operator’s Licence.

      Our driver training volunteers will be holding one scheduled course this season in West Carleton, beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 22. A parent must accompany each student to register and sign a permission form, and must produce a PHOTO COPY of their birth certificate upon registration at 8:30 on the day of the course. The course will cost $40.00 with the WCSTA providing a pizza lunch.

      Snowmobile Driver Training - December 8

      We have a driver training course scheduled for December 8/2012 at the Kinburn community centre with space for up 25 students. You can pre-register students at greg@wcstai.com. Please email with names and phone numbers of applicants.

      Here’s what you need to know to enroll:

      • Student MUST be 12 yrs old on or before the day of the course.
      • Students must present a valid form of identification at registration. (Birth Certificate
        or Photo Health Card)
      • Cost is $40.00 per course per student (includes all required course material)
      • Driver Training instructors are MTO certified, community based volunteers.
      • Courses are in-class only (NO operation of a snowmobile during class).
      • Course will be approximately 8 hours including registration, lunch and breaks. Bring your lunch,
        snacks and water for the day, dress comfortably. Some instructors will provide a lunch at an additional, optional cost.
      • Graduates receive a Motorized Snow Vehicle Operator’s Licence.

      Important Note: Persons age 16 years and over that hold a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence, including
      classes G1, G2, M1 or M2,  or a Motorized Snow Vehicle Operator’s Licence may operate a snowmobile on
      available OFSC snowmobile trails.
      Persons age 12-16 require a Motorized Snow Vehicle Operator’s Licence.

      16 years of age or older and have a valid Ontario’s Drivers Licence? This information is for you–
      Drivers 16 and over may operate a snowmobile on OFSC trails and Ontario Highways where legally permitted. They must hold a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence, including classes G1, G2, M1,or M2, or a Motorized Snow Vehicle Operator’s Licence. Anyone who has does not have a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence for whatever reason cannot operate a snowmobile on trails or on highways where legally permitted.
